Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

VietnamThe location is right in the heart of the Old Quarter, close to the bus station for Sapa. The room is right next to the street but very well soundproofed. I’ll definitely come back if I visit Hanoi again.

South AfricaNothing, everything was perfect
I loved staying at An's home. The beds were super comfy, the pillows divinely soft and the best I have slept on. The water is hot and shower pressure is strong. Loved the extra touch of toothbrushes and paste, combs, shower caps. Fans and air con and the quietness even being by a busy street, coffee, tea and 2 bottles of fresh water. The convenience of being right by the overnight busses is a real win and close to where the airport bus departure and arrivals are. Thank you for the fabulous stay and this will from now on be the place I always stay at when in Hanoi.

United KingdomWe stayed at an’s home either side of doing the ha giang loop, it was the perfect location for us - just on the edge of the old quarter and a short distance from train street and some great restaurants and shopping whilst also being close to the travel office where we started the loop. The room was super comfortable, clean and quiet so was a nice place to wind down and relax - excellent value for the price we paid. The staff were really friendly and the 24 hour reception meant check in was super easy even when we arrived in the middle of the night.

VietnamThere were snacks in my room and some beer and soft drinks in the fridge , as there was no price list in the room I asked at reception what the prices were - due to a language misunderstanding, I was led to believe they were free but when I checked out at the end of my stay I was asked for £10 to cover what I had used . I believe It was a genuine misunderstanding as the two bottles of water provided daily were free of charge.
The location was perfect in Hanoi old town , easy access to all local highlights

NetherlandsThe staff can not speak english, like most people in Vietnam and the hallway was very noisy. Early in the morning but also at midnight you could hear people shouting to each other.
The room was very clean and they provide every day cleanup, even though I only used it once

NetherlandsThe staff can’t speak any English. What isn’t a problem with google translate. Because of that I had not a nice situation. I payed by card and they charged me €20 more. After realizing and discussing this they didn’t understand what I meant and it took a long time with google translate and explaining the amount multiple times to get the money back. In the end everything was well and the staff tried their best but I actually didn’t feel that welcome there.
The deluxe room was really nice, clean and very comfortable. The location is amazing, walking distance to old quarter. The place wasn’t that loud so that is good. Good price quality

VietnamThere was no hot water for 2 of the 4 days I stayed at the property, and there was disruption while they had to keep accessing my room. I went away for a few days and returned to Hanoi and planned to stay here again, but the hot water was off again. The owner allowed me to cancel the reservation without a fee, so that was nice. I think some things get lost in translation when communicating with staff and the owners.
Convenient location. Good sound insulation even though it’s very close to a major road. Comfortable bed. Description states free parking — it’s the sidewalk. I requested secure parking and they asked what kind of motorcycle, and replied ok, there is a space reserved. It was a paid parking lot up the street. The owner paid for the first night, but I paid the remaining days. I think they had good intentions, but should change their parking description.

BelgiumThe floor of the bedroom was quite dusty. The bathroom wasn't clean (hair on the sink, toilet not clean) and they had forgotten the cleaning cloth in the bathroom. The owners were smoking inside at night and you could smell the smoke of the cigarettes inside the room. In the morning, we could also hear them from 6am, shouting and getting busy, it was quite loud. We didn't hear the noise from the street though. The first morning, someone knocked at our door at 8am to check something about the water pipes in the bathroom. We still extend for 2 nights in the nicer bedroom for a few more euros. The 2nd & 3rd nights went okay but then the 4th night, someone knocked at our door at 00h45, asking us to check the bathroom because there was a water pipe problem again in another room. The staff was nice, apologized and agreed to refund us for the 4th night considering our problem. Overall, I think this accommodation has some good potential, it's not too bad for the price and the location in Hanoi, but our stay was a bit chaotic.
The location was really convenient. We had the standard room and it was nice (television, light mirror). Very good bed and pillows.
