There was no hot water, wifi didn't work and it was not very clean in the room. The TV didn't work either and it was very dark at the parking bay and path to the rooms.

Good break away to disconnect from everyday life.

Even though the peacocks were beautiful, they made so much noise during the night which interrupted everyone's sleep quite a bit

The house was dusty, had my partner sneezing all night due to his condition (sinusitis). Foodwise, I think there should be an option for the visitors as to what they prefer

There were spiders in all rooms. It is a farm, I understand but the spider colony could have been controlled better. There was a live bull-frog in one corner of the bedrooms, which could have been picked up if the people moved the furniture are round more often

The owner and staff made it work. They were hospitable and genuinely concerned that we were ok. They kept offering services and went out of their way to get Doom insecticide for us on day 2

There is no network on cellphones but that wasnt a dealbreaker it was just unexpected

On arrival we were shown our two rooms, which were quite far apart, despite asking to have them next to one another. After unpacking the car and putting our belogings in the one room, the staff came and said there had been an error. We were then mvoed in to two other rooms, which were next to one another. The one did not have kitchen facilites and the other had a microwave, kettle and Snappy Chef stove induction plate. The reason for our visit was for the School Nationals finals, so we left to go to the track. On our return at approximately 6.30pm, there were other guests who complained about no hot water. The weather had been raining all day and temperatures were about 10 degrees. When we found the staff, they said they would come check our geyser. Some maintenance guy came with a thermostat, claimed he had changed it and then the man said he would be back in 30 minutes to check if the water had started warming up. He never came back to check. We had to shower in cold water the next morning. I called the property about 10am and told them we had not hot water. No apology, nothing. Just some rude man saying "we are working on it, and if we need to buy a thermostat, we will". Oh, I thought the thermostat had already been changed. When we found other accommodation for the Saturday evening (we were also supposed to stay Sunday evening but cut our trip short because of this), when I handed the keys back to the staff, there was no apology about the rather crappy stay we had.

The guest lodge was located about 20km out of PIet Retief. The road is not in a good condition and I would not drive that road at night time as cattle roam freely on the road. The staff tried their best but appeared out of their depth with the issues at the accommodation. Not every room has kitchen facilites and when they say kitchen facilites, it is VERY basic. Not enough cutlery for the number of people staying in the room.

the place was ill equiped to have guest there is wifi according to their page but upon arival we where told the wifi is not available in our rooms, if we would like to have access to the wifi we should sit outside in a specific spot otherwise we would not be able to connect, why should you pay as much but get absolutely no service whatsoever

A foot massage would have been nice hahaha. I barely complain because I can see and experience every place for its own uniqueness.

Taking the dirt road off Piet Retief was an absolute adventure. Testing driving skills dodging a few lil potholes made it even more exciting. Beautiful drive between forest views and oom Pieter was such a treat. A man of vision. We had Baardman giving us a private performance around the campfire and a delicious breakfast out on the deck. What a great unexpected beautiful place right next to the Swazi border. Will see you soon again. Im bringing my fishing rod this time.

Everyone complains about the road, but if you are a 4x4 fan enthusiast, it a perfect place for you.

The amazing views and friendly staff. Our room even had a jacuzzi. The owner is friendly and always available for your every need.

Difficulty to find

The property is well out of town and not easy to reach but once there it was spectacular and the team could rest up on their way back to Pretoria

Unfortunately the road on your way to the guest farm is not in a good condition. A fan would be perfect for each room, as the rooms were very hot.

Perfect for our overnight stay, surrounded by nature and fresh air. There is a dam for fishing. The animals were so friendly and playful. Owner was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.
