    A romantic weekend away

The gravel road obviously was a test for a driver, but my husband handled it very well. If you don't travel gravel roads often, it is a bit daunting, and it's not so easy to run into town. I would definitely not drive the road in the dark, so dinner in town is out. But a romantic meal on the cottage stoep in the expansive dark on the farm, is probably the best deal of the day.

We loved the cottage. It was sparkling clean, crisp bedding, choccies next to every bed, marshmallows on the kitchen table, coffee, tea, sugar more than enough for our weekend away. With a fireplace in the lounge, a Weber braai on the stoep, a fire pit for a bonfire, and a proper wood braai, one is spoilt for choice. We relaxed in the peaceful atmosphere of the farm, and all our worries seemed far away.

The farm animals, security, made sure for us to feel safe but also could come and go as we please. Had our privacy very kind people. The road to thee Accomodation was adventurous exactly what we love. It was clean, had electric blankets to make sure we were warm. The supply of wood for a stunning night fire. When it sais 4x4 Definatly need a bakkie! Definitely need a bakkie will DEFNITLY NOT MAKE IT IN A CAR has to be quite high and as said do not try use google maps. Its a really funn adventurous trip about 9km gravel from dullstroom shops it self but worth everything.

This was the absolutely most wonderfully peaceful place I've ever been! The place looks just like in the photos. The views are amazing! The stary nights where you feel like you can touch the skies to the rain and thunder that can be seen far and wide saw to a spectacular show of mother nature's power. If you want to go somewhere where you can truly unwind from the busyness of daily life, this is a definite must-see. The hosts put in a lot of effort to see to even the smallest of luxuries like marshmallows to be roasted over the fire and a chocolate by your bedside table. Thank you once again to the hosts for an absolutely wonderful weekend. Next time, we will be staying longer.

Everything was perfect. The unit has a very well equipped kitchen. Overall cozy, and trendy. Wood, fire-lighters, and matches are supplied as a starter pack. Should you need more wood, this you have to buy in town or bring along. The fireplace is set up for your arrival, which was great! Well fenced for smaller dogs, who can run around to their hearts content. Great water pressure, and super hot water. Plenty blankets and warm duvets, with plenty of pillows. The road was not bad at all with a high clearance SUV, and the locals from the settlement are friendly and helpful. Mountain view is a little gem, very quiet and pieceful. Low light also allows for great night sky and star photography.

Outside braai area is a challenge when it rains as the outside patio area is covered but very small (potential to extend this patio area will make a huge difference)

The smoke stack valve on the fire place was a balancing act to keep the smoke out of the living room. Once I figured out how to keep it balanced open it was all good.

The peace, quiet and mostly the amount of stars in the sky. I enjoyed the rough road as well, that's what 4x4's are for after all. The garden is large and my daughter enjoyed the space while playing with our dog. What is also a nice touch is they give you almost everything you need. A good amount of thought went into this setup. There is a gas stove, a must for SA electricity reliability. There is also a fire pit, place to braai outside and in case it rains, provisions are supplied to bring it under cover. The cottage is well stocked on wood for cold nights. People and dish soap, bowls for your pets, pokers for smores and the list goes on. Basically, all you bring is company, food and 4x4... definitely a 4x4. This place will be added to my annual stops list :) Loved it too much, only wish I could make my stay permanent.
