Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

South AfricaThe gravel road obviously was a test for a driver, but my husband handled it very well. If you don't travel gravel roads often, it is a bit daunting, and it's not so easy to run into town. I would definitely not drive the road in the dark, so dinner in town is out. But a romantic meal on the cottage stoep in the expansive dark on the farm, is probably the best deal of the day.
We loved the cottage. It was sparkling clean, crisp bedding, choccies next to every bed, marshmallows on the kitchen table, coffee, tea, sugar more than enough for our weekend away. With a fireplace in the lounge, a Weber braai on the stoep, a fire pit for a bonfire, and a proper wood braai, one is spoilt for choice. We relaxed in the peaceful atmosphere of the farm, and all our worries seemed far away.

South AfricaThis was the absolutely most wonderfully peaceful place I've ever been! The place looks just like in the photos. The views are amazing! The stary nights where you feel like you can touch the skies to the rain and thunder that can be seen far and wide saw to a spectacular show of mother nature's power. If you want to go somewhere where you can truly unwind from the busyness of daily life, this is a definite must-see. The hosts put in a lot of effort to see to even the smallest of luxuries like marshmallows to be roasted over the fire and a chocolate by your bedside table. Thank you once again to the hosts for an absolutely wonderful weekend. Next time, we will be staying longer.

South AfricaEverything was perfect. The unit has a very well equipped kitchen. Overall cozy, and trendy. Wood, fire-lighters, and matches are supplied as a starter pack. Should you need more wood, this you have to buy in town or bring along. The fireplace is set up for your arrival, which was great! Well fenced for smaller dogs, who can run around to their hearts content. Great water pressure, and super hot water. Plenty blankets and warm duvets, with plenty of pillows. The road was not bad at all with a high clearance SUV, and the locals from the settlement are friendly and helpful. Mountain view is a little gem, very quiet and pieceful. Low light also allows for great night sky and star photography.

South AfricaThe smoke stack valve on the fire place was a balancing act to keep the smoke out of the living room. Once I figured out how to keep it balanced open it was all good.
The peace, quiet and mostly the amount of stars in the sky. I enjoyed the rough road as well, that's what 4x4's are for after all. The garden is large and my daughter enjoyed the space while playing with our dog. What is also a nice touch is they give you almost everything you need. A good amount of thought went into this setup. There is a gas stove, a must for SA electricity reliability. There is also a fire pit, place to braai outside and in case it rains, provisions are supplied to bring it under cover. The cottage is well stocked on wood for cold nights. People and dish soap, bowls for your pets, pokers for smores and the list goes on. Basically, all you bring is company, food and 4x4... definitely a 4x4. This place will be added to my annual stops list :) Loved it too much, only wish I could make my stay permanent.
