How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGawie is the true reflection of what hospitality should be. From the time we made the reservation, he assisted us with such an amazing hippo and croc safari from ShakaBarker (which in my opinion was one of the best you can go on, I’ve been on a few and Kian was by far the best guide to have - he was so knowledgeable about everything), as we arrived we encountered some car troubles but left the property immediately to go on the boat cruise and Gawie had organized to have it seen to, then he had made reservations at Reef and Dune on our behalf and especially organized for us to have a table facing the road (for hippo sightings of course). Overall, we had a fantastic time. The views from the terrace are so beautiful and our room was lovely and so comfortable. Thank you for an incredibly memorable stay, we will be back most definitely!
Absolutely nothing to comment

Verified reviewVery welcoming hosts and we were shown around the pool, viewing deck and to our cabana. The cabana has a well equipped kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom with sink, toilet and shower and a lounge. There is great private patio and bbq area - well lit, with table and four chairs, The property is about 3/4 minutes from the restaurants and shops in St Lucia. Unfortunately it rained heavily for most of our stay so we didn’t go for breakfast up at the main lodge.
Nothing.
Thank you for the lovely review!

This was my third - and last - stay at Ndiza. I have previously stayed in one of the self catering cabanas but this time I booked a room in the main house - mainly because it included dinner and breakfast. On arrival the young boy who greeted me was surprised to hear that I had booked dinner. A check confirmed the reservation. He then told me that as I was the only guest he would get a ‘take-away’ of fish and chips from a local restaurant as ‘it was not practical for the cook to be available to cook dinner for one guest’. However - it had been practical for them to take the payment for it! I was tired after a very long drive and did not argue - the ‘dinner’ served was a fried fish fillet with some fried potatoes, reheated in the microwave - the fish was stuck to the plate. Probably cost about 90 Rand. Not impressed! Even less impressed when I tried to shower and could only get cold water. Same thing next day when I rose early for Whale Watching - no hot water at 0530. When I told the boy he assured me that there was hot water. I could not agree as I had run the water for 10 minutes without result. Not wanting the disappointment of the previous evening I dined in a local restaurant. The following morning i did get a trickle of hot water from the wash basin tap but nothing from the shower. I had booked for 4 nights but checked out after suffering just the 2 nights - cutting my losses. Having booked half board and paid in advance my only meal was the reheated fish fillet. No breakfast. I was extremely disappointed and, of course, there was no refund offered on my pre-payment in full. But I was happy to get away. Never again.
Dear Guest There are numerous untruths your review - after 3 stays in the past you were happy to book again. This time you were unkind from the minute you arrived. The "young boy" is my very capable manager.,his name is Gawie as introduced to you. He is 28 years old. Not a young boy. He is mentioned in almost every review for his kindness and assistance provided. As you were on crutches, at arrival he offered to assist you with your bags, a kind offer you very abruptly declined. There was no problem with your supper either. We served you fresh fish and fries, as per your request. After dinner, when Gawie asked you how the food was, you said it was "lovely". You even sent a message to thank him for the dinner - but you mentioned that you were disappointed as you expected a restaurant with other diners. There was no "take away" food involved. You declined dinner the following night, and opted to go to a restaurant with people around. You did not arrive for breakast in two days. You had hot water, but did not listen how to regulate the water. Operator error - not ours. You were clearly frustrated with your mobility issues. I hope you foot heals soon so that you can be the friendly guest we got to know in the past 5 years. Travelling on crutches is not easy and you are clearly upset with the entire world.

Family pool was very dirty… Impossible to get correct hot water in the bath; during shower : it is cold, get hot, get cold again… We had Ants in the living room In the kitchen, the tap are not long enough… water splashes the edge of the sink… almost impossible to wash the ditches correctly
Dear Sir, Thank you for your review. It always helps us to improve. Regarding the hot water, we explained to you at check in, that we have gas geysers. Once you have opened the hot water big enough for the gas to ignite, you can regulate the temperature. Regarding the ants - we are based in the wetlands, yes - we do have a few ants, especially after the rain we had. This is not abnormal for our area. We do however take care to prevent this. I will look into this, thank you for letting me know. Both the pools are cleaned every day, at least twice a day. We can not prevent the wind from blowing, so a few leaves might blow into the pool at times. Your stay was during a very windy period, the wind blows faster than what we can clean. It is such a pity that you never raised even one of these issues with us, while you were here. We receive consistant excellent reviews, and we are always available to attend - immediately, to possible problems our guests might experience. Regards Amanda
