Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The toilet had no seat on it, there was a set of lights that did not turn off so it was difficult to get a good night's sleep
The care taker waited for us to arrive by 8 pm and showed us to our room. She offered to open the doors that were outside our room to make it easier for us to carry our luggage in

There was confusion about the room and my booking. Which was upsetting. But was eventually resolved. Also, it would be great to have portable fans or air conditioning in the rooms. The heat was unforgiving.

When I got to the lodge, I was told it was full and had no place to stay after paying for it. I had to look for alternative options. This was pathetic

We did not have breakfast as it's been advertised on the website, and they were cutting the grass when we were still swimming nearby us.

The room was cleaned only after night 2 and I was handed out a remote for the entrance gate just for them to have it requesed back the same night of the day I got it. Telephone guy sounded impertinent. Bathroom globe was fused even after I informed the owner about it to it still not fully addressed
The owner was friendly, attentive and helpful. Their staff also assisted where they could to make it a better stay

I booked the placed and paid full amount but I was so furious when I arrived at the place they sad was no space available for me ,they said I must go to another place which I not booked 🙃

Prepare the room as you know that guests are coming. They didn't even have an ironing board.
They did not know that I was coming. The guy the works there had to call the owner and the owner did not expect anyone. I had to sit while they confirm if I paid or not. The room was cold, bathroom had a broken window. My wife was locked inside the bathroom as the key was not opening from the inside. No kettle, no tea no nothing. Worst experience ever. The only person I would like to recommend is Mr Ed (the person working at the guest house), he was very kind and humble, easy to deal with

The bedding, the room, the noise
This place is disgusting. How is it listed as a guest house? Shared bathroom, bedding was horrific and dirty.. no man what the heck.. remove this place from online bookings. It's disgusting

We canceled the booking through their mistake n they told us that they will refund us even now m still waiting for ma money n their boss was very rude to us

+/- 5 5 bedrooms ,one ablution facility. Panties hanging in the abolition facilities.. . No coffee tee etc in rooms. Personnel totally disorganised . Cleanliness is a a shambles. I will never recommend this facility to anybody... I booked for 3 nights but moved out the next morning. The pictures does not comply to the situation and does not comply to other guesthouses that I have stayed in before. My personal rating would be a total zero. Regards Frans Rossouw.o
