How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

They can do with a better gate. Not a bad though
Very nice place away from the noise and busy beach front. Great getaway for a couple and team . Rooms near the swimming pool and braai area.

The apartment was small. There's no free movement. Please replace blankets with new ones. The bathroom drain also needs attention because the water takes forever to go through. The cleaner must have reported earlier.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming. It's clean and tidy.

Absolutely nothing!!!
We liked almost everything, the kindness and friendliness of the staff (Kea and Thuli), cleanliness of the rooms - the entire house, including the yard. The ladies went all out to make our stay a comfortable one and one to remember

Everything was absolutely terrible. The owner was not there. They own a business Ui Brands yet deny knowing the business. When I tried to call the owner on the number ( Ui brands number)that is the same as the one provided. There is no address provided even after you book so you rely on a call only. I drove around trying to find it. The unit had mould on the walls, the beds were dirty, it was a small stuffy room. You have to share a bathroom. The owner refused to give me a refund even though we left immediately. There was another couple who also left before us with the same issue. I do not trust the reviews that are good. There’s no way that you get good and bad reviews a day apart. Please read the bad reviews so you are not fooled. The owner is disgustingly rude. He never apologised or offered any solution for the sad situation. This is clearly a scam. How disgusting that the owner has pics with ministers on his business website. Clearly he is a fraud Used Bookings for years and never experienced anything like this before 😡😡😡
I did not even stay at the accommodation. It was a last minute booking after reading the glorious reviews. There was absolutely nothing to like about the property

Short stay but absolutely loved it. My daughter enjoyed playing around the garden so much. Beautiful views. Clean swimming pool. Clean place. Shared the bathroom with other guests but it was clean all the time. Coming back. The hosts are amazing when it comes to hospitality.

The room was very small. It was in a basement. My colleagues had to share a bathroom. That was not stipulated when I booked.

Room stinks of mold. We were told we must understand there's mold because of the humidity yet we dont have this issue with other places in Ramsgate or margate. Pillows were brown on the inside . The booking said private bathroom yet when we arrived we were told we would be sharing a bathroom with other guests. The side tables are covered in mold behind them worse these are right by your head when you sleep. This gave my daughter a chest Infecfion . The shared bathroom was not so private as when i was using the bathroom, my partner could see me right though the windows undressed as its seethrough. Not sure how to explain but the wall is 80% glass meaning guests outside by the pool are able to see you do your business. We had to book at a different accommodation which meant spending more money. Hosts didnt seem bothered with our complaints. The pictures are very misleading. Very unhappy

They don't have a board which makes the location very clear to guests.
Safety, Tranquility, quiteness, very kind owners and staff. Nice views and a swimming pool.
