How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

it's great value so not a deal breaker but regulating the shower temperature was tricky. The mattress was very comfortable but the bedding itself was slightly on the cheap side. These are minor issues, however, and we still had a comfortable stay.
This is our second time staying in this unit but this time for a week and we had a fantastic time. Our accomodation was spotless, gets cleaned daily, is centrally located, and the bed mattress is very comfortable. We also enjoyed the use of netflix in the room when it rained. Great value for money. Don and team are great hosts.

A great stay. Clean and comfortable, with friendly staff. The rooms are serviced daily. The privacy of the rooms is very pleasant. Of course, the welcome from the dogs is an added bonus!

No kitchen sink, had to fill kettle from the bathroom ... The toilet didn't flush well Had to fill a bucket in the shower and flush the toilet .
It was very cosy , the bed was comfortable

the dog poo we stepped in. Not nice at all. We checked in, and we had to park in front of our room because the other cars was not parked in parking area. We parked on the grass and stepped into the dog poo

It was tricky to regulate the shower temperature. While the mattress was super comfortable, the linen and pillows felt a bit basic and not the same quality.
We had a very pleasant stay in a great location. Walking distance to the main beaches, restaurants, and the village. The staff were friendly and helpful, even assisting with reconnecting our trailer at checkout. Communication with the host was excellent. There was ample parking for both our vehicle and trailer. The unit was spotless and cleaned daily. It was well-furnished, comfortable, and had a spacious bathroom. Although we didn’t use it, there was a clean kettle braai, a well-equipped kitchenette, and a nice patio area.

Frame of sliding door to room was poorly installed. Easy for a criminal to just get in which is a worry even if you lock sliding door the screws were not holding the frame properly. Otherwise very safe location and cameras all round. Would stay again.
Easy and simple stay. No fuss with regards to the check in and check out procedures. Room was great for a 1 night stay.

If you rent a hotel type/bed & breakfast accommodation, you would not think of carry a simple thing like dish washing liquid in your room. Little more care with cleaning.
Location was good. Easy check in. It had necessary cutlery if you needed to stay in. Small bar fridge. Coffee/Tea, Sugar provided Room was ok for just a couple Bathroom was good

No complaints, but just a suggestion: Maybe a door hook for the entrance door as we are not big fans of air conditioning. Also a mirror near a plug for a hairdryer would be awesome.
Zur See is a lovely spot for a short stay. We stayed in the Rembrandt room which was very comfortable. The fact that we were not affected by the load shedding was an absolute blessing. We will definitely stay there again!

Don please have blinds or block out curtains put in for the smaller windows - the bright sunlight in the morning when one needs a rest is a bummer

I appreciate the warm welcome during my visit to the property. However, I must share some personal feedback regarding the dogs on-site. I wasn’t expecting their presence, and it caught me off guard. I’m not sure if this detail was communicated to my boss beforehand. That said, I truly appreciated how you managed to calm the dogs and create a more comfortable environment for me. While I understand their role in protecting the property, they were a bit intimidating at first, which I found slightly unsettling. This is simply my personal observation, and I hope you don’t mind me sharing it. Thank you again for your understanding and assistance during the visit.
