Ryokan Asunaro: A Traditional Japanese Inn in Takayama.

Nestled just a 6-minute walk from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center, Ryokan Asunaro offers an authentic Japanese inn experience.

Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. The lodging was excellent with the ultimate Japanese experience. The room had every immensity possible and the bed was really comfortable. We would differently stay here again.

The staff were so kind and accommodating, and truly tried to go above and beyond for their guests. Every time we came back to the hotel we were greeted with an enthusiastic welcome back and ushered into the warmth and comfort of the reception area. Breakfast was exceptional and beautifully presented. The hotel also arranged for our luggage to be sent to our next destination which was extremely helpful as it meant we didn’t have to worry about storage lockers during our visit to nearby Shirakawa-go. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we’d be beyond delighted to come back.

Guests can relax at the communal hot spring bath or the private hot-spring bath free of charge. You can cook in the fully equipped kitchen or read at the mini library. Free Wi-Fi is provided at the lounge. Amazing tatami room overlooking the river. Good individual fridge and toilet. Well equipped kitchen. Amazing common rooms. Really a great place to stay at a good price. Helpful and kind staff, really. Great location.

There is a coffee shop, and a minimarket is also available. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in.

Guests can also relax in the shared lounge area. Really like the tatami-style room! Enjoyed the great view of ocean and fancy gazebo! Dinner was also amazing!

The public bath and shared lounge offers views of the private forest. Guests can relax with massage at an additional charge. Fantastic staff that helped us cross the mountains the day when we were leaving, since there were unsafe driving conditions.

Guests can savour Japanese breakfast and dinner in their rooms for some of the room types. The charming ryokan offers free WiFi and on-site parking. Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating, location and rooms were great quality.

Located a 5-minute drive from Gero Station, Kawakamiya Kasuitei offers traditional Japanese-style guestrooms featuring tatami (woven straw) flooring and hot spring baths in the Gero Onsen area. Received a very warm welcome as we drive into the parking lot till we leave the car park. Each room at this ryokan is air conditioned and comes with a flat-screen TV. Some rooms include a seating area where you can relax. You will find a kettle in the room. Rooms include a private bathroom with a bath and shower, with slippers, free toiletries and a hair dryer provided. The staff was very kind. In two difficult situations, they provided us super glue and cold medicine.

Was the best japanese experience that we have on our trip. The house is very traditional and beatiful, they have also a nice garden. And the best thing was Tai and his family that take care of us, they were very kind, prepared the best japanese breakfast and help us with everything.
