We had a fabulous time staying here. The husband and wife who ran the guest house were very friendly and helpful. The guest house was beautiful and so too was the food. We spent two nights there and could not have been happier. The town of Iwamura is very interesting and very peaceful. I highly recommend.

Well beyond expectations on almost every level: kindness, hospitality, food... First of all, the host is really responsive both via the Booking message system and Whatsapp, which is a plus: even before getting to Japan we already chatted to arrange a pick up from the station to the hotel. So, if you are worried about the distance from the city center, forget your worries. Second: the host's kindness and hospitality were even beyond the (already high) japanese standards and he also spent some time with us suggesting things to do and places to visit. Also, every other person working there was super-kind and sweet, we really felt welcomed. Third: the food. The owner is a really skilled cook, offering an outstanding kaiseki-style dinner and breakfast, with both regional and national delicious dishes. One of the things that drove our choice to Nagataki were some previous reviews about the food, and we can confirm it was even beyond our expectations, with special attention to both the taste and the composition. Last, the Nagataki charm. Here each host has its own traditional Japanese house, which is just an amazing way to experience a slice of traditional Japanese life. Also, the hotel has got a small onsen that - being few people in the structure for the night we spent there - was split in two private onsen. So, to sum up, we cannot recommend Nagataki enough: if you are undecided, give it a try and you won't regret it.

We had a fantastic time in The Ryokan O. It wasn’t fancy but it was simple, clean and very ‘hyggelig’ The staff from this morning was especiaæly helpful with sendning our luggage via yamato which we are very thankful for. On the day we arrived, we took the wrong train and ended up arriving after 11pm, which wasafter their normal check in hours. The Ryokan O tried to accomodte that and let us check in unmanned, and even put our big luggage inside put room in advance. They have a common room which we used a lot for eating dinner, since we decided to dive into 7 eleven products during our stay here. We got some coffee as much as we wanted and the staff is helpful with teaching us how to use the microwave. We want to stay here again when we go back to Nakatsugawa :)

Very helpful and friendly staff. The free shuttle bus took us to the start of a hike every morning and picked us up from Nakatsugawa every afternoon. Food was yummy and affordable. Baths were very nice.

Hara-San is an amazing host. He teached us a typical samurai dance and it was very fun and interesting. It was a very nice way to learn the culture of the region. Also, the food was excelent and felt super comfortable.

The tatami room is large and very clean. Very nice scenery looking from the balcony. Breakfast buffet is delicious, though the variety is limited. Onsen facilities is large and good, with several different pools.

Property is facing Ena and river which is located at the top of small hill. View from room is fabulous. Clean and big size for 3 persons in group. Futon are great. Onsen is big and good. There is an outdoor onsen put as a bonus. The surrounding area is quiet and property has its own parking so it’s not a problem if you drive. Staff are friendly. Breakfast is just so so. Limited choices. However, the restaurant also has same view of river so it’s enjoyable when having your breakfast.

The Enakyo Onsen Hotel Yuzuriha was our favourite hotel. The location is beautiful. The room was very comfortable. The breakfast and dinner were excellent. The onsen was clean, and the outdoor onsen was a highlight. The hotel was extremely clean and the staff were helpful in booking restaurants and taxi when needed. We also enjoyed the karaoke room, and my children liked the video games. We would definitely stay here again.

We booked this hotel because we couldn't find one for our date at Magome itself. And were we glad! We had such a beautiful room, overlooking the river and the mountains! The onsen was super. And we rested very well after the red-eye flight and more than an hour drive. The breakfast that came with the room was really great!!

Beautiful place and location. Very comfortable although the rest room was not en-suite. The rooms were wonderful tatami style, the onsen just right and very good food. Most importantly the host was very helpful and kind. I highly recommend this hotel.
