The inn was so beautiful and many wonderful qualities. It's location is in the middle of a lively street full of shops and restaurants and a close (though uphill) walk to a temple. The in-room amenities were wonderful: whole coffee beans, a grinder, a coffee pot and cups, a separate teapot and teacups, pajamas, robes, and any necessary toiletries. The provided breakfast and dinner was delicious, traditional Japanese fare with English menus to explain the nightly courses (though I'd still suggest having a translator app). Last, but certainly not least: the baths were incredible. I appreciate that the private baths did not need a reservation and were all themed differently. So relaxing!! All my worries melted away here.

Wine was a very reasonable cost

Gorgeous hotel, room & grounds, including the dining room, lounge & lobby. Japanese-style room was very comfortable, with very attentive and professional staff.

The design of the Oki Olive guesthouse is exceptional with incredible attention to detail at every turn. It is a beautiful space to relax in with multiple location options to rest like chairs looking out into garden, a tatami floor living room, dining table, bath, and shower. Our host was gracious and attentive and was open to making recommendations for dinner and activities. The tour of his olive farm was an added delight. We were looking for a more rural experience, so the property’s location worked well for us! We used a rental car to get to the property. There is a parking space provided.

Me and my wife toured Japan for our honeymoon and one of our stops was Tonosho, Shodoshima. We stayed at Kikuya Ryokan and couldn't be more happy with our decision. A fantastic location just steps away from the Tonosho ferry terminal, within a 5 minute drive/bus from landmarks such as Angel Road, and last but certainly not least, our gracious host Miya-san. A cozy and spacious tatami room, amenities, yukata, tea, presents and so much more. Miya-san was one of the kindest souls we've ever met and was instrumental in making Tonosho an unforgettable experience. We'll never forget it and are so thankful for her hard work! We'll meet again, one day!

Featuring an outdoor pool and natural hot spring baths on the top floor, Bay Resort Hotel Shodoshima is located in Shodoshima Island. All guestrooms offer great ocean views. Free WiFi access is available at the lobby and in all guestrooms. What impressed me most was the assistance of the service staff I happened to meet a young girl from Taiwan who helped us with the language barrier and was very patient in helping us translate and solve the problem! There was also a young Japanese boy who helped us with the hot spring temperature and finally helped us carry our luggage to the shuttle bus. I was very impressed by his perfect service.
