We have stayed at many onsens around Japan over the years but this place is the very best of any we have stayed! It is a historic building that has 200 + years of history. Even the Japanese emperor stayed here a long time ago. On arrival the building looks a bit old but you quickly learn that it is nothing to be concerned about. Staff members, both old and young are exceptional and carry on the traditions of Japanese hospitality. The food, both breakfast and dinner was exceptional. Great variety of traditional Japanese cuisines. Every meal different items (except rice of course :>) . The natural spring hot tub just outside the room was very spacious. Temperature is adjustable by yourself. Truly a great place to spend 3 nights or more. Neighborhood walking also pleasant.

That staff is friendly and supportive. The rooms are well appointed and in style of Japanese tradition. The best part are the natural mineral hot springs. Total rejuvenation and relaxation.

Amazing Ryokan with best food I ever had in a hotel! Wonderful personnel, amazing hispitality. Great onsen facilities. Has a besutiful traditional feel and located in a pristine, untouched nature. Private open air onsen has great views over the valley. So far, best hotel I have ever been in Japan. I highly recommend here to anyone wishing to experience such a great Ryokan. Thank you everyone for making my stay so wonderful.

Ubicato a Tokamachi, a 38 km da Comprensorio Sciistico di Gala Yuzawa, Sake Hotel Tamakiya propone una sala comune, un parcheggio privato gratuito e un ristorante. The service when we arrived was absolutely stellar, on top of the amazing hospitality shown Yukiko-san asked about our itinerary and provided us with additional preparatory information which was an absolute lifesaver after the long drive! When we went into our room we found our coats already hung up and its these little things that make the service just so impressive. I also had to wake up the poor staff at around 12AM because we wanted to drive to a konbini nearby, but he was so helpful about it. The room itself was extremely luxurious, warm and comfortable. Everything was extremely clean and well-kept, and my favourite thing was the open-air bath which we were able to enjoy multiple times. The dinner was absolutely top-notch and extremely good value for what was paid. The ingredients were fresh and quality, but the culinary skill applied was nothing short of perfection. One of best meals I've had in Japan and I come very often.
