Yuzawa Grand hotel gave us the best Japan cultural immersion experience. Our room had both the western style bed but with Japanese tatamis and spare futons. This has been the highlight of our Japan trip as we experienced eating oranges in a low Japanese table, sleep in futons, experience the amazing Onsens Hot springs both indoor and outdoor. The hotel is very engaging, clean, accommodating-- i cannot praise it enough. It is also in this hotel that we tried sukiyaki for the first time and many amazing dishes and seafood in both their breakfast and dinner offers. We would really love to visit again in a few years time hopefully:)

Shosenkaku Kagetsu beschikt over 10 uniek ontworpen warmwaterbronnen en biedt accommodatie in Japanse stijl op slechts 5 minuten lopen van het treinstation JR Echigo Yuzawa. The onsen was awesome. Room was large.

Kogakuro ligt in een vredig landschap en biedt aangename kamers in Japanse stijl met veel natuurlijke lichtinval. Amazing host, Mieko-san made the stay feel so special with her warmth, helpful demeanor and cheery greetings. Location was great for Akakura Onsen runs, food restaurants were nearby. Breakfast eggs and pancakes were standout items. Room was big and comfortable.

Authentically crafted and designed buildings, beautifully decorated interior spaces, comfortable tatami guest room (we stayed in the Hiiragi room with private open-air onsen cedar bath), and peaceful surrounding garden.

Sasakura onsen Ryuunso is gelegen in Itoigawa. De ryokan biedt ook gratis WiFi en gratis privéparkeren. It was a lovely stay, place is well maintained although built in the 80s or 90s so furnishing represents that era. Onsen was lovely with different options and the water temperature was quite hot. Its an elaborate traditional japanese breakfast spread with lots of tasty dishes. I would recommend the place and you feel very relaxed after the onsen and they provide lots of little snacks and ice-cream which was a bonus with the kids. It is quite off the main road and the onsen itself is the destination.

Bunanoyado Koase bevindt zich in Aga, op 37 km van Suntopia World en 44 km van tempel Enzo-ji, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis WiFi in de hele accommodatie en gratis privéparkeren. Amazing Ryokan with best food I ever had in a hotel! Wonderful personnel, amazing hispitality. Great onsen facilities. Has a besutiful traditional feel and located in a pristine, untouched nature. Private open air onsen has great views over the valley. So far, best hotel I have ever been in Japan. I highly recommend here to anyone wishing to experience such a great Ryokan. Thank you everyone for making my stay so wonderful.

Sake Hotel Tamakiya bevindt zich in Tokamachi, op 38 km van Skiresort Gala Yuzawa, en biedt accommodatie met een gedeelde lounge, gratis privéparkeren en een restaurant. The service when we arrived was absolutely stellar, on top of the amazing hospitality shown Yukiko-san asked about our itinerary and provided us with additional preparatory information which was an absolute lifesaver after the long drive! When we went into our room we found our coats already hung up and its these little things that make the service just so impressive. I also had to wake up the poor staff at around 12AM because we wanted to drive to a konbini nearby, but he was so helpful about it. The room itself was extremely luxurious, warm and comfortable. Everything was extremely clean and well-kept, and my favourite thing was the open-air bath which we were able to enjoy multiple times. The dinner was absolutely top-notch and extremely good value for what was paid. The ingredients were fresh and quality, but the culinary skill applied was nothing short of perfection. One of best meals I've had in Japan and I come very often.
