Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park is a 15-minute drive away. My husband and I spent a night here to experience Japanese onsen for the first time and see snow monkeys in the area. We went with a traditional Japanese style room option and had no regrets. The room was fantastic. Saying spacious would be an understatement. Very large living area, separate sit down area and balcony with beautiful view. The large entryway, washroom, separate shower with bath and separate powder room. The room has AC and we were very warm despite the snowstorm outside. We had the means to make tea in the room with a beautiful tea set and there was a coffee bar downstairs. The room also had a TV. For both meals we went with the Japanese options and the staff was very helpful and accommodating to help us and explain every dish. There was even a small guide included with each meal outlining what is being served for each course. The facilities were outstanding as well. We opted for a private onsen and it was simply magical with the snow outside. There is a swimming pool as well that my husband used. If you forgot your swimwear you could get one there for a small fee. There is a small gift shop downstairs (they accept the cards as a payment option) with local sweets and small souvenirs. The fact that you got collected from the train station with a minibus and dropped off after your stay was extremely convenient as well and we didn't need to take the local bus. We were very close to the snow monkey park. We had a fantastic stay and we couldn't ask for a better experience.

This 3-star ryokan offers free shuttle service and full-day security. The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. The kindness and hospitality of the host. Akira was super helpful and caring during my stay. He helped out in everything I need, even helped me to call to see if there's any instant film around. I ordered dinner which is not in my plan, food was well prepared and tasted fresh and yummy. The next day Akira drove me to the Monkey park, after that he went to pick fresh bamboo shoots from the mountain, which is the fresh food I ate the other night. Last but the most helpful mama, she so strong and kind, picked me up from the monkey park and helped caught the train back to town. Overall a perfect stay here and one of my best memories in this trip.

Tawaraya Ryokan is a 10-minute drive from Snow Monkey Park and a 15-minute walk from Heiwa Kannon. Shiga Kogen Ski Resort is a 30-minute drive away. Very tranquil atmosphere. Cozy and beautifully kept ryokan with a gorgeous outside bath available for private use. This is an especially nice place for a couple. The staff are kind and helpful and they speak English.

Minshuku Miyama provides a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 3 km of Jigokudani Monkey Park and 13 km of Ryuoo Ski Park. With an open-air bath, the 2-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a shared bathroom. Guests can use the spa facilities, or enjoy mountain views. The staff is nice, if you are thinking of visiting the Snow Monkey Park is a great location, the food is awesome so I recommend that you take both breakfast and dinner if you can. The outdoor onsen was great, too, and the bedrooms are comfortable, and you are provided with a traditional japanese experience as well.

A free shuttle is available from Yudanaka Train Station, which is a 5-minute drive away. Our hosts were really friendly. They took us to the monkey park and get us from the Yamanouchi station as well. They have private and public onsen as well. The rooms are warm and comfortable.

The traditional rooms have Japanese-style futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. I really liked the athmosphere of it. It felt like traditional Japan. We had half board that allowed us to try japanese food beyond what we would dare to order in a restaurant. The staff was exceptional!

Japanese dishes featuring local ingredients are available at the ryokan. Dinner is served in a private dining room. The staff is lovely, the service excellent, and the food delicious. We went off-season so it was very quiet and peaceful to stroll around the little town and visit the public onsen with the yukata and shoes provided by the ryokan. The best one was the bath in the hotel though. They also offer a free shuttle service for the station and monkey park as well. We felt pampered and well taken care of at all times.

Guests can soak in the indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths and female guests can enjoy wearing colourful Japanese Yukata robes. Yudanaka Train Station is a 10-minute drive away and free Wi-Fi is available in the shared lounge. The staff, the location and the private-onsen. Breakfast is typical and good and the room is beautiful and comfy.

Yasuragi Inn’s Japanese-style rooms have tatami (woven-straw) floors, futon beds and a flat-screen TV. Each room is air-conditioned. A fridge, an electric kettle and yukata robes are provided. What I liked the most was being able to be in such a lovely place with such lovely hosts. The couple that owns the ryokan have been nothing but nice since before you even arrive. The dinner and breakfast were out of this world, and the onsen is the perfect touch after a day out enjoying the area. They offer to pick you up from the train station, drop you off when you check out and even take you to the Monkey Park. Thank you very much for making my stay in Yudakana so special!
