I was so pleased to stay here. I arrived after dark, by motorcycle, and my original intended location to stay didn't meet my needs, so I booked online with Carlos, and it was less then 2 minutes for his response, which I was thankful for, because I had a long day of riding and just wanted to get off the bike and gear unpacked. Carlos met me within 5 minutes after connecting to bring keys, and show me access. And was very helpful in directing me towards some places to eat in which I found an amazing local restaurant and fantastic meal. The apartment was so spacious and well maintained, very clean. What impressed me so much about being in the centre of Portalegre, and the location of this apartment, it was so quiet, the most quiet neighbourhood I ve ever stayed in, I slept with window open and was so peaceful. The next morning Carlos met me to obtain key and directed me once again to a great spot for breakfast items. I Hope to return and I would stay here, to explore the beautiful city of Portalegre.

We stayed at Quinta d'Abegoa's apartment, Casa do Souto, which is very cosy and ideal for two people. Everything is really well thought out so the apartment felt bigger than it actually was. The bed is very comfortable and the shower is excellent. The outside space is beautiful - we loved sitting out, listening to the birds and the bells from the sheep, while enjoying the views of the both the castle and over towards the mountains and Spain. We made the most of being able to walk to restaurants in Marvao (although it is uphill all the way!) but we also cooked at the property - the kitchen is tiny but is very well-equipped and has everything you need to self-cater. Our host, Rosa, looked after us extremely well, bringing us breakfast every day, and nothing was too much trouble. We love the area around Marvao and will definitely return for another stay at Casa do Souto.
