The staff went above and beyond to assist us and were outstanding! Thank you! The neighbourhood is quieter than the main tourist area and not very difficult to get around. We took buses, the metro, and walked. But the best transport were the bicycles we hired from a bike store across the street. It was fast, fun and safe to ride around Kyoto on bicycles like a local! The hotel has a few bike parking spaces which was very convenient. The laundry room in the hotel was great and had enough machines and a money machine to exchange bills for 100yen coins. The hotel has a small exercise room which is useful. The room was more spacious than expected, very clean with everything that we needed. The windows could be opened for fresh air when needed. There is a good sized grocery store almost opposite the hotel with fresh food and most products you’d require. We would definitely return to this Mimaru!

The property is 700 metres from TKP Garden City Kyoto, and within 2.6 km of the city centre. We are a family with a 6yo, 4yo and a 4mo baby. The hotel provided a free crib, a real one not a camping crib we usually get at hotels. The small apartment/room was very comfortable for a family. I had a microwave that fits Avent bottle sterilizator, a fridge, a freezer, a fully stocked kitchen. While we chose not to cook and mostly brought in goods from the convini (Lawson is better than 7/11 in my opinion, both are bear by) or take aqay from the station's McDonalds, Avanti's food court (right across the street) or Coco Curry. A large dining table, a spacious shower and bath and a laundry room (operated by coins) made traveling with kids a pleasant experience. We chose Kyoto station branch as we used it as base for Osaka and Nagoya too, and it made traveling around easier. For us it was a perfect location. The hotel also has a game lending library and we enjoyed several evenings playing with our kids.

Could close off the bedroom with the sliding doors which was handy when putting kids to bed. Heaps of storage in the room for suitcases and prams etc. Easy walk to the shopping street and 5 mins to a supermarket and busses. There was also a small playground down the road which is handy for families travelling with kids. Room was clean and spacious and front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
