Matt is a very kind host who waited on site for us to arrive, and to personally welcome us and show us how unlock the garage. He even baked an entire sourdough bun for us as a welcome gift, which was very sweet and pleasant surprise. The house was huge and comfortable, and well stocked with coffee beans, a coffee grinder, a French press, green tea leaves, hot chocolate powder mix, and the hosts even left a bottle of apple juice, water and milk for us to enjoy. Very thoughtful indeed, we felt like we were putting up at an old friend's home! The lodge manifested my long time dream of staying in a cozy cabin in the woods.

Everthing was perfect about this place. Food was excellent, staff was super helpful and the rooms were great. The hotspring (onsen) was nice as it was inside our cottage so it was private and very cool. Rooms were immaculate and the fridge and stove top with all necessary utensils was a definite plus! walkable to almost everything you need including the ski lifts at Akakura.

The toaster, microwave was useful, and most useful was the drying room where clothes are dried overnight which helps when u travel with a big group with lots of laundry. the host was super helpful with my dinner bookings and managed to help me make all the dinner reservations at my restaurant ahead of my arrival.

The beds were very comfortable, we paid for the breakfast option and the food and coffee was just right every morning. Clean facilities, the staff was always there to assist if we had questions. The shuttle only takes you to Suginohara, Akakura Kanko and Ikenotaira. But if you give them advance notice, they can come get you when you’re done skiing for the day, it’s a wonderful amenity! The Onsen in the property is delightful as well, much needed after skiing all day. The location is perfect for walking anywhere, rentals, food, local buses stops and the convenience store. The front desk has all the information needed to get to know the town easily and find your way around. One of the best ski properties I’ve ever stayed at in Japan!
