Mansala is a lovely, family owned Guesthouse. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, and have great beds. They offer game drives with a great guide who is very knowledgeable. Be careful because many of the “guides” are simply drivers and know little about the animals and birds. The dinners at Mansala were just amazing. The hostess is an amazing chef and her meals will impress you. The breakfasts are good, but the star is the evening meal. The owners are kind, gracious, helpful and want to leave you impressed.

We will forever cherish the memories we made at the green paradise cottage! The whole family was so caring and welcoming. They truly represent Sri Lankan hospitality. Our sons played together, laughed, ran, swam in the river although they didn’t speak the same language. They took turns offering to hold our baby to allow us to eat or shower or just get ready. We immediately felt at home. The room was spacious, a crib was provided for our baby, there was an AC and mosquito nets. The garden is so lush and peaceful. The food was delicious (we had both breakfast and dinner here) The safari they organized for us was incredible. The cottage is about 20 min away from the park entry. We saw so many elephants and our guide Pasindu was knowledgeable, drove safely, helped us set up both our kids with their car seats in the jeep, and was genuinely nice. We are so happy we chose to come here instead of way too popular Yala. There weren’t many jeeps and everyone was respectful of the animals, something that was very important to us. We highly recommend staying here and hope we get to one day revisit Sandaru, Yenul and their family ❤️ Thank you for everything Laura and Joseph

Large room, excellent host (Gayan & his mom)! The location is just next (2-5 minute drive) to the National Park entrance. They welcomed us with a cool Watermelon juice. Then later that evening had a delicious & delightful Sti Lankan dinner. The host is super courteous and friendly, respectful and polite!

Amazing river front nature location near Udawalawe national park. Fantastic unique eco accommodation and repurposed materials, love the sowing machines, when you visit you'll get it. Staff were amazing and a huge thanks to Dinuka, his communication was exceptional when we had difficulty getting from Kandy. Organised a late check in, helped our driver to book his accommodation locally too. Next best part Dinuka is a very informative and passionate guide doing the morning Safari. Himself and his driver were a well oiled machine. Don't try and save money without a guide, book Dinuka and his driver well worth it. The breakfast was great and even organised complimentary snacks before our drive further south.

Great place, room facilities exceeded our expectations- very good value for money. The room decor was almost jungle-like, plus air conditioning and a kettle in the room. What we loved the most was the bathroom with tiles in tigers🩷 We arrived in the evening and there was a delicious dinner waiting for us made by the host, who was incredibly hospitable and fed us throughout our stay. The food was delicious. He also organised a safari along with provisions for the journey. All in all, I highly recommend this place, there is also an elephant orphanage nearby and everything is surrounded by a wealth of nature 💚💚💚💚🌴

City Elephant is ideally situated for getting to the park, right on the main drag through town. The owners are super friendly. My room was large with a good bed and good AC. The restaurant out by the street looks unassuming, but DO eat there...these guys cook beautifully. I had a rice/curry lunch that was just lovely.

One of the best stays we had in Sri Lanka. We booked it completely exhausted when we were 5 minutes away from the place, and when we arrived, there was no one, but in about 30s Marjan arrived on his motorbike telling us that he lives 5min away and came straight when he saw a new booking. He instantly made us feel welcome and made us welcome fresh drinks. Since they also had a jeep, they offered us a morning Safari for a great price, which was absolutely stunning. When we came back, we received another complimentary fresh juice! Marjan was absolutely wonderful. We asked for lunch and he went above and beyond and cooked us multiple wonderul meals we couldn't even finish. The place was very clean, and truly a great experience! However! When looking for the place, look for signs, as google maps doesn't actually have the street that its on in its maps. The signs showed us the way - google maps was wrong.
