The hoppers and chicken were beyond compare; I highly recommend asking for dinner—the flavors were divine, and the prices surprisingly reasonable. The room exceeded my expectations, the most comfortable I've had in my travels around Sri Lanka. Fast Wi-Fi, a spacious balcony with a view of the garden and birds, and a thoughtful room upgrade – it was perfect. To top it off, a warm welcome with juice and a very tasty cake made my arrival memorable. In short, this place is a gem, and I highly recommend it. The family that ran it were exceptionally friendly and couldn’t be anymore helpful. Loved having them share their knowledge of all the spices and fruits growing in their paradise! The garden view room was absolutely gorgeous and so clean you could eat off the floor. Comfortable big beds you want to snuggle into, coffee making facilities right in your room (Kettle, cups, sugar), and truly the highlight of it all, an outdoor bathroom! I was very reluctant to leave after my stay here, I really felt like my emotional wellbeing has been fully restored after a few bad hotel experiences prior. For this price, you absolutely cannot beat it. The food was lovely and the host very kind and accommodating. So if you‘re planning to stay in Udawalawe, this is the place!

The owners are super friendly. My room was large with a good bed and good AC. The restaurant out by the street looks unassuming, but DO eat there...these guys cook beautifully. I had a rice/curry lunch that was just lovely.
