We were excited to stay in a cave/hotel during our trip to Matera and l'Hotel di Pietra did not disappoint! We had a beautiful, large room with jacuzzi and sauna that was breathtaking. The staff was very helpful and the communal breakfast area in the main lobby area was very good as well! The hotel was a few minute walk from a main piazza and the center of town. From the entrance to the property we had a great view of the Duomo and the Sassi. Matera was magical and staying at Pietra complemented our Matera experience.

Hotel San Giorgio provided us with a beautiful room, the Frantoio, for an amazing stay in Matera. The Room's position is perfect to relax and have quiet and peace, while still enjoy the beauty of living in the middle of the Sassi. The bathroom is large and modern, with lovely shower and everything you need and more. I loved the fact that the room was provided with a full package of local products and breakfast foods and drinks for all kinds of taste and those were replenished every day, so that our snacking wasn't depending on the opening hours of any buffet. Overall we were very happy with our experience, the courtesy of the staff, the super useful pointers they gave us and the beauty of the room.

Everything about this hotel was perfect. The people from front desk were very nice and helpful, the common areas of the hotel were very nice, the location and the views stunning!! We rented the room with the little terrace and was just perfect, so beautiful and very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing!! delicious and lots of variety. I would defintely come back to this hotel if visiting Matera again. Hope i can. Matera and the hotel were 10/10

Arriving at Matera and parking the car in a recommended garage, we were picked up by a very helpful and friendly staff member (did not recall the name) so we did not have to walk with the bags. He was prompt and very kind. The hotel offered us an upgrade to our room - we had booked the one which is further from the reception. They offered us an amazing room in the hotel itself with a beautiful terrace. We could choose, of course, between the one we initially booked and the one they offered. Both rooms were amazing, however, we took the upgrade. This was the most romantic place we have stayed! Beautiful, authentic, matches the out of this worldly feel of Matera beautifully. Despite it being a cave, it felt luxurious, was spotlessly clean and warm. Every detail of the room was amazing! The balcony and the view - the best in Matera. Too bad we only stayed for one night! The location - again, the best there can be! Breakfast - was yet another exceeds any expectiations matter - a beautiful breakfast room, great variety, and wait for this - live music - the beautiful sound of a harp!!! The thermal pools - wow!!! Not to be missed! Most of all - the staff - we communicated with a lot of staff - reception, the spa, at breakfast and the driver - they were all so helpful, friendly and professional! This is probably the longest review I have written lately, but the place deserves and excellent review, so here it is! If we ever go back to Matera, I would love to book at least 2-3 nights in this same room! Thank you for a special stay!

Great central little hotel, literally 3 minutes' walk to Matera's main square. Very friendly and helpful staff, quiet location despite its centrality. Good wifi. Free street parking very tricky to find (but available around the hotel) but we found paid for parking round the corner (1 euro/hour from 8am to 8.30pm but free of charge between 8.30pm and 8am).

Set right inside Matera's Sassi area, a UNESCO site, Albergo Italia provides free WiFi throughout. The Italia's en-suite rooms feature air conditioning, and some have views of the Sassi.

Hotel location is so perfect. It’s in the city centre. Walkable distance from almost everything in the city . Staff is helping and friendly.

A nice hotel with an excellent location right in the old part of the city. I leave the room and I'm in the ancient street of the city, amazing. Breakfast had to be ordered on a separate form by items, unusual. But probably caused by the fact that it was possible to bring them into the room. Professional and friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Amazing environment in the cave, both the room and the bathroom. It is a bit unusual that the rooms are entered directly from the streets of the city. In the evening, however, tourism stops and there is peace.
