Well beyond expectations on almost every level: kindness, hospitality, food... First of all, the host is really responsive both via the Booking message system and Whatsapp, which is a plus: even before getting to Japan we already chatted to arrange a pick up from the station to the hotel. So, if you are worried about the distance from the city center, forget your worries. Second: the host's kindness and hospitality were even beyond the (already high) japanese standards and he also spent some time with us suggesting things to do and places to visit. Also, every other person working there was super-kind and sweet, we really felt welcomed. Third: the food. The owner is a really skilled cook, offering an outstanding kaiseki-style dinner and breakfast, with both regional and national delicious dishes. One of the things that drove our choice to Nagataki were some previous reviews about the food, and we can confirm it was even beyond our expectations, with special attention to both the taste and the composition. Last, the Nagataki charm. Here each host has its own traditional Japanese house, which is just an amazing way to experience a slice of traditional Japanese life. Also, the hotel has got a small onsen that - being few people in the structure for the night we spent there - was split in two private onsen. So, to sum up, we cannot recommend Nagataki enough: if you are undecided, give it a try and you won't regret it.

Good size room by comparison to other Japan hotels, comfortable bed. Resraurant looks basic when you enter but food was amazing!

Set 4.8 km from Enakyo Wonderland, Enakyo Onsen Hotel Yuzuriha offers accommodation with a balcony, as well as an open-air bath.

We stayed here for one night on a bikepacking trip. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed, and it was really cool that it was in a shipping container! You also get a free ready-meal with a variety of choices, which was an unexpected bonus!

Each one of us got a single room at a reasonable price. Breakfast included. Supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Helpful staff. The little onsen is a plus.

Takimi Onsen Inn that only accepts one group per day features a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 9.1 km of Otsumago and 9.3 km of Kotoku-ji Temple.

Amazing place to stay! They only book one group at a time so you have a private residence all to yourself! The inn is nestled in a forest next to a river and waterfall so very picturesque. The best feature though is the Kaiseki meals they prepare just for your group. The chef is trained in french cuisine but made a wonderful japanese dinner for us. I would highly recommend this ryokan if you want an authentic experience in a beautiful setting. The private onsen was also a great feature. They'll also pick you up and take you to your departure point e.g. train station.

Hotel Fuki no Mori is a 20-minute ride from JR Nagiso Train Station on the hotel’s free shuttle. Guests can enjoy walks at the garden or the scenic areas surrounding the hotel.
