The accommodation and onsen (for private use) were superb! The owners were very friendly and offered to drive me from/to the Yudanaka train station as well as to/from the Monkey Forest free of charge. The street the onsen is on was very beautiful, close to other onsens (if needed), restaurants and bars, but at the same time, very quiet. I recommend this place very much!

A truly wonderful experience start to finish. We booked the twin room with private external bathroom (i.e an outdoor relaxation area with a hot tub fed from the hot spring water). When you walk into the room you feel instantly relaxed. Supreme luxury and comfort. Our breakfast and dinner were included, and it was absolute fine dining, some of the best food we have ever eaten (served up in our own private dining room!) The service was second to none, we felt absolutely spoiled every minute of our stay. An unforgettable experience.

We loved everything about our stay. The staff very warmly welcomed us. Our room was big and the futons very comfy. The food served at dinner and breakfast was tasty and delicious. The onsen was wonderful with a beautiful outside area. The location next to historic onsen is also great. They also provided us a free shuttle ride to the Snow Monkey Park (you take the bus on the way back but beware of the schedule because we waited 2 hours to head back to Nagano). Our only regret was that we couldn’t spend one more night at the ryokan. One night was too short.

The rooms are quite nice and the onsen is open almost 24/7, so it is easy for guests to relax after a long day of exploring. Most importantly, the hotel staff is beyond helpful and experienced with handling international guests. You can rest at ease as an international guest at this hotel. The staff offered restaurant recommendations, rides to nearby attractions, and even lent me jumper cables and personally helped me when I had car trouble. Although it's not the fanciest hotel in the area, I guarentee it is the hotel with the warmest atmosphere. Tip: The hotel walls are plastered with home-made posters containing recommendations of how to best enjoy the local town and attractions, so be sure to check it out!

We only spent one night there to visit Snow Monkey Park - we wished we had stayed longer. Great location, just a 5 min walk from the station. We had clean good sized room, and the outdoor onsen was great with snow falling as we relaxed. Dinner was also at the onsen and we weren’t disappointed by the kaiseki style meal. To top it off one of the owners will drop you off at the entrance to monkey park and pick you up as well. We had a great stay.

This was by far the best Ryokan experience that we've had in Japan so far. Incredibly friendly staff, great location with beautiful bathing facilities and very very tasty food (I still feel bad about the horse meat though...). What more could one ask for? Admittedly, it's a bit off-track if you don't have a car, but they offer a shuttle service to the next station (Suzaka, not Suzuka ^^) so it worked out fine even for us. Thanks for having us, we'd gladly come back.

Amazing ryokan experience with wonderful hosts who went above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay, provided delicious fresh meals and gave us great tips for visiting the surrounding areas. The location is also great fot visiting beautiful countryside that surrounds it, Obuse, and the snow monkey park. The onsen variety is really great too.

Incredibly friendly staff and beautiful location. We have rarely felt this welcome before. The Onsen experience is really next level with traditional Japanese rooms and the possibility to sit in the hot water and look up at the stars at night. The included food is delicious, and you are within driving distance of hiking/skiing.
