Facing the seafront, The Ship Inn is a bed and breakfast featuring a 3-star accommodation in Bardsea. It has a garden, bar and parking on-site. The property features garden and quiet street views, and is 30 km from World of Beatrix Potter. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. I booked a couple of nights at The Ship to take some time out to myself and get away from my day to day routine. What a great little, local pub in a lovely, quiet area of the Lakes. I was made to feel like a local as soon as I arrived. I was introduced to staff, locals and was asked to join others in drinks, food and conversation. It was like being at my own local pub. So much so, that I was convinced to stay an additional night which was no bother to the owners/staff and was made to feel even more welcome. Great beers, lovely, home cooked food and a friendly, warm welcome. I couldn’t have asked for more. I’m already looking into when I can next visit.

Located in Barrow in Furness, East Mount House provides a garden and shared lounge. Providing free private parking, the 3-star guest house is 39 km from World of Beatrix Potter. The guest house features family rooms. Great value for money! Highly recommended. I enjoyed 3 nights in a beautiful, comfortable, clean room with great facilities (including an excellent shower and tea and coffee making facilities). East Mount House is in a picturesque, quiet, convenient location along tree-lined Abbey Road, within quick, easy walking distance of the town centre, Barrow Park, the docks, the abbey, and the hospital. There is a bus stop right outside the door (with buses around Barrow running every 10-20 minutes), and a Co-Op, petrol station, convenience store, and Subway just across the road. There is also a nice pub just down the road, within a 2-minute walk, serving food and drinks. The hosts are very friendly, attentive, accommodating, and helpful, happy to do everything they can to ensure their guests have a pleasant stay. They provide all guests with a front door key so that they can come and go as they please. There is no curfew. They also provide all guests with a detailed booklet that includes useful information for exploring the local area, including recommendations for restaurants and other forms of entertainment. But what impressed me most was the high-quality breakfast, which included an amazing selection of fresh berries (including strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries), a wide selection of breakfast cereals (including my current favourite, crunchy nut cornflakes), delicious fresh juices (including orange juice and apple juice), and even a selection of fresh yogurts, cereal bars, breakfast biscuits, breakfast pastries, and fresh fruit (including apples and bananas). Tea, coffee, toast, and a full English breakfast are all available too, cooked to order for each guest. I ordered fried eggs on brown toast, and it was cooked to perfection, with enough toast to finish off with raspberry jam on toast. My idea of the perfect breakfast! I'd say it was one of the best hotel/guest house breakfasts I've ever had!
