The taxi from the station wasn’t too bad, and if you feel like walking, you can reach the city center in half an hour. Loved the family-style place, the organization, breakfast, how everything is super well-explained with pictures and videos…it was completely worth it and I’d definitely stay there again.

Only in Japan could you find such a lovely hotel on a freeway. Similar to other Fairfield Hotels I’ve stayed in the US in terms of rooms/layout but this one was much more loved. Pristine condition, spotlessly clean, lovely common areas (with microwave, oven, coffee etc - great for families). The staff were beyond helpful and attentive. I stayed there to travel to Mashiko which was a disappointment but this hotel was a lovely bonus.

It was the best sleep in 5 weeks in Japan, the outdoors private thermal bath was excellent, the food was beautiful, they accomadated me being vegetarian. The onsens were great, outdoor ones being hotter than indoors. The national park it's in is beautiful. The staff are amazing, just delightful.

Nikko Station and Tobu-Nikko Station are within a 5-minute walk from the property. Yoshi is a wonderful host, very respectful and humble too! Upon checking in, it brought we smiled when he asked if we required 'quick' check in (5 min), minimal explanation n introduction from him, or 15-20 min where he would share his list of restaurants and to visit locations. Though bathrooms are not attached to bedrooms, it was very clean, and comfortable. It also allowed us to meet and greet our other housemates too!

Just a 15-minute walk from the Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Nikko Hoshino Yado features natural hot-spring baths with Japanese garden views, traditional kaiseki (multi-course) cuisine and Japanese-style rooms with tatami floors. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. We stayed in the Deluxe Japanese-Style Room with Private Bathroom Garden View 2 floor. The room was very large and comfortable with a great view, and we enjoyed the bedding on the tatami. All the food was delicious and very visually appealing (there was also a gluten-free option which was very nice). It was great to be able to book the private onsen for my partner and I. Service was top-notch and location and grounds were superb.

The hotel has family rooms. Grate experience in Nikko if you are looking for a bit of a remote area. Beautiful and quiet environment. The Onsen in the hotel is amazing, especially the private one! The food was exceptional, such an experience really recommended to book the dinner plan. Very not touristic in the best way, hart to find in Japan.

I specially like the fact that the hotel offers a variety of self-served drinks in the lobby, which definitely helps after a warm daytime walk outside as well as a cold evening walk outside.

The lake view is beautiful and so peaceful, we were lucky and had the chance to see snow during our stay. The onsen is really good after a big walk outside. Everything was perfect, we felt very good there. The staff is really nice.
