Het Mercure Karpacz Skalny ligt aan de voet van de berg Śnieżka en beschikt over een verwarmd zwembad, een spa en tal van faciliteiten voor kinderen, waaronder een kinderdompelbad. Everything was top notch and as expected and the location was great.

Hotel Stary Zdrój is gelegen in Świeradów-Zdrój, op 16 km van Dodenbocht, en biedt accommodatie met een terras, gratis privéparkeren, een restaurant en een spa- en wellnesscentrum. The hotel is located in a quiet area of the town, next to the small river (about 15min walk to the town). It's peaceful and relaxing but a petrol station and a couple of supermarkets within a walking distance. The decor was beautiful, full of antiques, paintings and old photographs. The hotel was very clean with comfy mattresses. The staff was helpful and friendly. Staff serving during the meals was ever so nice, always smiling and it actually makes a difference when you are treated like you really matter to them. The receptionist, Mrs Jola, clearly enjoys her job and looks after the guests in every aspect, making the guests feel important to her. The food was excellent, really tasty Polish dishes, as if home made. We loved it (compliments to the chef!). The swimming pool area was clean, jacuzzi and sauna available. The hotel is also used by organised German tourist groups who enjoy their retirement time but also Polish people who look for peace and quiet. Massage options are available (book as soon as you arrive if you can as the slots get quickly taken by the organised groups). I specifically was looking for a place where my elderly mum would feel comfortable, especially as the pool time was part of our stay and she felt relaxed in Stary Dwór. She would definitely not feel like this in a bigger, spa type like resort/hotel. If you fancy doing something different, ask in the reception about the horse sleigh rides in the winter or an alternative in the summer, organised by a local man and his son (it can also include an open fire and frying sausages at their property land). We only did the sleigh and mulled wine option and it was one of the best attractions both myself and my mum have had in a while. Also, a small Zdrojowe Museum is worth a visit, it includes going up the tower to admire a nice view and finding out the histor of the town.
