Villas in Asago

This place, blew our minds away! The ryokan was huge with various rooms and sufficient space for the 4 of us. It took us a while to explore almost every nook of the space. Uda san was such a lovely host, who explained everything to us, from the layout, to the use of the space. There was even a zen garden that spreaded across 2 rooms. The kitchen was well furnished with everything that we could use. The toilet and shower area, though separated, was very well thought through and the shower area was large with a bath tub. The entire home was really amazing! Uda san even assisted us in booking a nice Izakaya for our dinner. We truly loved our stay very much and would definitely loved to stay here again!

Imagine a Tera Machi of 8 temples in your back, a solid wall protecting the front side and a river to cross. This all in an old but nevertheless very comfortable original house. You do not have to miss any comfort to still get the experience of living in older times. The house contains museum items so every day there is something to inspect or admire. No, you do not have to tiptoe through the big rooms, you have ample space to move. The modern built old bathtub is a comfortable and funny experience. The kitchen has all necessary modern amenities in a style that suits the property. In all details a successful attempt to perfection. Besides all this, Ikuno is a charming little town, with surprising good views at every bend of the river, where life seems to go at an easy pace. There are nice places to eat and there is a big enough supermarket with a good variety of fresh foods.

True to pictures, our stay at Shigura Wood Villa for a group of 4 adults and an infant was unparalleled! Naoto-san received us upon arrival to walk us through the facilities/ house rules and, was extremely prompt with his responses and assistance via the booking platform's chat function (prior to and during the trip). The villa was also spotless and contained professional kitchen equipment which motivated us to home-cook our meals! Even rain couldn't dampen our moods as the villa's interior was so lovely. We're truly grateful for the kind hospitality as first international guests of the villa and look forward to visiting again!
