Kinsale is a cute little town. Beware. Not easy to drive in.
Kinsale is a cute little town. Beware. Not easy to drive in. Good place to spend a few days.We used it as a base for going to Mizen head, Baltimore and other places south of Cork.
Also note, and this is very common in Ireland, don't get up a the crack of dawn and expect to find a place open for breakfast. A few opened at 8 but more often opened at 9 and even 10. Earlier than 9 were few and far between. Those that are tend to be crowded for obvious reasons.

It was disastrous, my wife decided to go down the town for a walk around as she was walking she noticed foreigners watching her every move and they then started to pair up and follow her, she felt so threatened that she had to go into spar shop and wait for me to collect her. Would never visit there again.

Kinsale is a fantastic town for a weekend away.
Kinsale is a fantastic town for a weekend away. There are several excellent restaurants where you will have unforgettable experiences. The Black Pig and Finns Farmcut are amazing. Breakfast can be hit or miss, The Lemon Leaf and OHK were excellent. If the weather allows the walk out to Charles Fort is lovely, with a pint of Murphy’s at the Bulmans. The views at the Old Head of Kinsale are breathtaking, and Garretstown Beach is stunning. The tour and tasting at Kinsale Mead is fascinating and a unique highlight. Be careful choosing where to stay, as standards are not reflected by star ratings, and the centre can be noisy. Parking is challenging with two hour max at the central car park, better at SuperValu but you’ll need to move your car overnight.

We arrived later in the evening but were welcomed wonderfully. If you drive to the hotel, know that parking is only what you find on the street. Our room was lovely and spacious and the bathroom was nice.
There isn't an elevator available so if you are on the 3rd floor like we were, be prepared to pull your bags up the stairs.
Be sure to book a paid breakfast with your room reservation. It was soooo good and one of the best meals we had in 2 weeks. A good breakfast gave us the energy to tackle a busy day.
Kinsale is a lovely town and even mid-week on a foggy fall day, we loved walking around.
John is an absolute gent. I can't speak more highly of him. His bnb is beautiful. This was the best bnb we have stayed in. The room was lovely, good power from the shower, bed was comfy and beautiful views. The breakfast was excellent. You wouldn't get it as good in a hotel who have all turned to buffets. The breakfast here is fresh, cooked to order. The walk to town is lovely, quiet country road into the heart of kinsale, takes maybe 15 or 20 minutes. Would 100% recommend.
Great space if you are travelling with kids, gives you freedom to be able to relax with it out having the kids confined to a hotel room. Location is great as you are a short walk to some of the best restaurants Kinsale has to offer.
The owner Michael was great to deal with and very helpful. My family and I will definitely be returning
Maeve was very welcoming and helpful! Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and a delicious breakfast in the morning with lots of variety in the menu and fresh fruit and home baked bread! The BnB is located up the hill of Kinsale but not a problem if you're mobile. All the staff were helpful and welcoming!
The breakfast was excellent. The room was good once I realised that all the hotel used old furniture. Location was excellent - right in the centre of Kinsale.
There were very few restaurants open and the Blue Haven hotel was suggested (I believe a sister hotel) - the food was excellent.
We LOOOOOVED this hotel and it's staff. The location was perfect! The room was small but comfortable with a view of the street which we loved. The breakfast was the best we've had in all of Ireland. So delicious. Overall Kinsale and The White House has been our favorite place!
Peter and his staff were so welcoming and warm. The breakfast was delicious and the rooms were spacious and very clean and comfortable. The location was right in the heart of Kinsale and a 2 min walk to everything. We loved Long Quay House!
The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful, we stayed in the lodges and were moving on to skibereen the next night but decided to go back to kinsale hotel for our 3rd night as it was so nice and the staff were exceptional
Interesting older building. The owner made sure we understood that it was up a steep hill from downtown Kinsale. Parking was around the corner. Owner was very helpful. It was nice to find a small hotel with twin beds.
A nice quiet , clean , friendly boutique hotel in the heart of Kinsale ! The room was comfortable and well appointed , with tea and coffee in a common room just down the hall . Very helpful and approachable owner !
Great character to the hotel. Comfortable, warm, great location and the shower was the best shower of any hotel/venue we have ever stayed in. All in all it was great value so 10 out of 10. ⭐️
The room was beautiful and opulent, and the pictures were accurate. We were on the third floor, but there were no elevators. However, this was not surprising given the boutique hotel feel.
This was a favorite hotel for us during our 9 day stay in Ireland. It had a very convenient location, the room was nicely decorated and we had a wonderful view of the town and harbor.
Very quant hotel - loved the rooms, space well utilized. Breakfast was wonderful, very good and staff was attentive. Centrally located in the seaside town of Kinsale.
Lovely common rooms and staff. Wonderful breakfast and owner managing hotel onsite. Fresh cut flowers everywhere. Well decorated rooms with comfortable beds.
